Margo's Story

In the spring of 2002, one week before my 32nd birthday, I became sick.  It was due to my thyroid and the medication that I had been taking for over a decade.  My body finally had enough and completely rejected the synthetic thyroid meds and I had what would be the worst time of my life physically & emotionally.  I will just say that out of nowhere panic attacks, heart racing and palpitations as well as the constant feeling that I was going to die, were to be feelings I would come to experiance for days and several weeks to follow.  On top of this already stressful occurance was the sudden change in our living situation and we found ourselves moving from Missouri to Galveston, Texas to be close to my husbands parents.  Lets just say this was not the best possible scenerio for the next 2 1/2 months.  What actually led me to raw and living foods was the new reality that while sick, I could not eat anything except a small amount of fresh fruits, raw vegetables, small amount of brown rice and hot tea or water.  If I tried to eat anything else I would immeadiatly feel as though I was going to die.  This was a strange & frustrating time for me (and my family), and it forced me to really find a way to understand what was going on and try not to go insane from  the seeming lack of food choices.  I went from a size 22 to a size 14 in 2 1/2 months.   Alas, we came to our senses and left Galveston post haste and returned to Missouri with 25 dollars in our pockets and proceeded to homestead on our land and get a 10 by 20 metal shed and prepared to live in it for the winter.  We had nothing to lose and I found a wonderful (female) resident doctor who actually listened to me and did not think it was in my head, or that I was depressed or any of the things some other doctors had said to me.  We agreed that I should try taking natural animal thyroid (armour) and along with cytomel got my TSH tests in a pretty comfortable range that I could live with.  This took almost a year to accomplish, but It changed my life and I am a stronger and much calmer person because of it.  I feel that I was meant to travel this path and it changed not only my life, but my familys as well.  My husband Dietrich and my boys benefit from the living foods diet and we are all healthier than we have ever been.  Happier too!  I cannot imagine not eating living foods now, and wonder how I managed to get by before eating this way.  I am learning how to listen to my body, how to feel connected with the creative force and to live as authentically as I can each day.  My Heart, Mind & Body are responding to this way of living and I am a grateful participant in my Life.  Thank You for taking the time to read My Story!
